VOLUNTEER helpers are desperately needed to keep the Meals On Wheels service afloat in the Whitefield area.
Recent retirements have put a strain on the service provided by the Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS).
They are searching for new recruits who can spare a couple of hours every month as a driver or a helper.
The WRVS has been running the meals on wheels service in Bury for more than 60 years, and currently covers Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and Ainsworth, as well as Bury.
Around 70,000 meals are sent out every year thanks to an army of more than 350 volunteers.
Anyone who can offer help is asked to contact Antonia Smith on 0161-253-6000
