A FAMILY is desperately searching for their deaf pet dog which vanished without trace during a walk.

Joseph Curran was walking 16-year-old Penny with two other dogs when she ran out of sight on waste ground behind Accrington Cricket Club last Saturday evening. He couldn't find the little Jack Russell in the dark and, because she is deaf, she doesn't respond to calls. Since then Joseph and his wife Diane, of Thorneyholme Road, Accrington, have searched for her every day and called all the animal rescue shelters and nearby police stations without results.

Diane said: "She's part of the family. I have delivered leaflets all around Huncoat but no-one seems to have seen her."

The wire-haired, white and tan dog was wearing a collar and tag bearing the family's old address at Heywood Road.

If anyone finds Penny, or knows where she is, they can contact Diane on 01254 385483.
