YOUNGSTERS in Blackburn and Darwen won't have to go far to find excitement this summer -- but they will need to take their passports.

Teenagers have flooded an adventure scheme hotline to book their places on the two-week summer holiday programme of games and activities.

Between 24 July and 4 August, Passport 2000, allows 13-16 year olds free bus travel and free entry to visit over 30 different venues in and around Blackburn and Darwen.

Among the myriad of sporting challenges available are abseiling, archery, tennis, watersports, football, orienteering, volleyball, and athletics.

The programme also has other more diverse games and activities such photography, tours around Ewood Park, a treasure trial, Internet use, and even a trip around the Telegraph office to see how a newspaper is made!

Young people can register for the scheme and take part in as many events as they like. The scheme has been developed as part of the Manchester Commonwealth 2002 Legacy programme to create interest and awareness of the Games.

Passports cost £8.00 each (second child £3). For full details of events and venues call the Passport 2000 hotline now on 01254 697946.
