AS a past pupil of Stand Grammar School in Whitefield, now the defunct Bury College, I recently accepted an invitation to tour the building prior to its imminent demolition.
I was horrified to see what had been done to the interior of a beautiful building in the interim years, and the addition of the cheap and scruffy outbuildings.
Any nostalgia I felt about its past has now vanished and I shed no tears over its future.
