MR Ivan Lewis MP appears to using the race card regarding asylum seekers. I can only speak for myself, but I object to them being allowed to flock to this country.

Our elderly are being shamefully neglected; our hospitals are under so much pressure that people are having to wait and in some extreme cases are even dying before receiving treatment; our schools, not matter how much attention the Government gives or intends to give them, suffer from having not enough teachers and too many pupils.

Decent semi-skilled jobs are few and far between since the contraction of our heavy industry; our roads are overcrowded, and more of our countryside is eroded by housing.

Now these home-grown problems are being neglected in favour of millions spent on housing benefits, special teaching needs and interpreters for asylum seekers sent to all parts of the country.

New Labour should give priority to the people of this country and not to solving the rest of the world's problems.
