A BAKER determined to rebuild his life in the wake of the worst natural disaster Africa has ever seen today made a heartfelt plea to readers of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and said: "Please help find my brother."

Sabir Patel, 48, is getting back on his feet after floods wiped out his home and business in Chokwe, Mozambique, earlier this year.

But the baker, who is to feature in a Channel Four documentary about the disaster, lost brother Saide's telephone number and address.

All Mr Patel knows is that his brother, whose full name is Saide Ismail Patel, lives in Blackburn.

He is now hoping to find him as part of a programme being made by Glasgow TV company Wark and Clements about the flooding which swept through the country in February and March. Beatrix Alexander, of Wark and Clements, said: "The country was practically wiped out by the flooding and a lot of people lost everything they owned, their homes, businesses, everything.

"Sabir is one of the main characters in the documentary and is rebuilding his life. He has rebuilt his home and businesses and is now baking bread 24 hours a day but he is sad because he has lost his brother's telephone number and address. He has no way of contacting him."

Readers of the Evening Telegraph have already helped the cause by raising thousands of pounds through our Mozambique Appeal.

The fund, organised in conjunction with international aid agency UNICEF, was hailed a huge success after readers donated more than £25,000 in weeks.

Miss Alexander said: "All Sabir knows is that Saide lives in Blackburn and he desperately wants to contact him. Crew are returning to Mozambique at the end of this month and would dearly love to take a telephone number, address -- anything."
