STANLEY recorded a victory in their final pre season warm up match prior to next Saturday's opener at Leek Town.
The game's only goal came five minutes before the break, Shirley ended a solo run into the Kendal penalty area with a fierce right foot shot that goalkeeper Mark Kinsella could only help into the net.
In first half stoppage time Stanley keeper Bobby Harris made a brilliant reflex save to keep out a thunderous 25 yard free kick from Danny Kent.
