THE Ribblesdale League's Under 18s lost a last over thriller in the final of the Manchester Evening News Trophy at the weekend.
Darkness was setting in when the Northern League reached their revised target of 146 shortly before 9pm on Sunday night at Preston Cricket Club.
Earlier, Barnoldswick's Matthew Nutter (35 not out) and Clitheroe's Danny Glover (32) had provided the backbone in a Ribblesdale League total of 161-9, after their innings had been reduced by rain to 39 overs.
A further down pour meant four more overs were lost during the Northern League reply but they reached their reduced target in the final over, despite a three wicket blast from Padiham's Kevin Hitchon.
