AS fans scramble for Superbike "hero" Carl Fogarty's biography, one can only hope they don't emulate the self-confessed cat killer's antics detailed so nauseatingly in his book.

I wouldn't be surprised if the champ's book signings attract protests from the animal rights lobby, and deservedly so.

As he rebuffs criticism from those he calls the "blue rinse brigade" he says he's not proud of his teenage antics. He should prove it then, and donate some of the book profits to a local animal charity.

Foggy's a legend to thousands of fans worldwide, and he's had one of the highest honours Blackburn can confer with a civic reception at the town hall.

Blackburnians were proud of their World Superbike Champion -- now he's just an embarrassment.
