DAISY Hill gave their best display of the season in a super 4-1 home victory over Holker Old Boys.

Povah and Wadeson pulled the Daisy strings in midfield while Adam Entwistle was a real handful for the Holker defence.

After good work from Prescott, Povah put the home side 1-0 up with a fine strike from eight yards.

Against the run of play Holker levelled after McNare clumsily brought down livewire Waters. But Daisy showed their true character and continuted to play some attractive football. When Entwistle was upended in the box, he got up to smash in the spot kick and give his side a 2-1 interval lead.

Wadeson, Cane and Shinks all went close early in the second half but it was Prescott who made it 3-1 when a fine surging run and pass from Povah put him through.

Fifteen minutes from the end Entwistle blotted his copybook when he when he was booked for arguing and then sent off for abusive language.

Holker came more into the game against Daisy's 10 men but keeper Thorpe showed a sound technique as he dealt with a couple of Holker efforts.

A free kick from Keary resulted in skipper Steve Wynne notching his second of the season to make the game safe. Before the end Wadeson could have made it five, but after rounding the keeper he saw his shot cleared off the line.

The Arla Food man of the match award went to Lee Molyneux.

Daisy Hill's other sides also had good weekend with victories over Atherton Town and Old Trafford.

Atherton Town came to their local rivals brimming with confidence after an opening day 5-0 win. That confidence showed early on as they swept into a 1-0 lead.

A fine cross from Jones brought an equaliser for Cunniff but soon afterwards Town were ahead again.

Two goals in five minutes from White proved to be the turning point. Cunniff added his second and at half time Daisy were 4-2 up.

Town never recovered and Lowe made it five with an unstoppable drive before Atherton managed a consolation goal.

Daisy sent a strong message throughout the league when they returned from championship contenders Old Trafford with a 2-1 win.

After a blank first half Daisy drew first blood when Pickup spun and crashed in a great goal from just inside the box. Twenty minutes from time Pickup notched his second when he lobbed the stranded Trafford keeper.

The woodwork twice saved Trafford before the end. Their only reward was a late consolation penalty.
