MEMBERS of the Apnaghar Day Centre in Blackburn sampled different cultures from within their own community during a day of dance, music, crafts and food-tasting.

More than 100 people enjoyed the cultural event which took place at the Bangor Street Community Centre as part of Age Concern Week.

During the day local people had a go at traditional crafts such as woodturning, making wooden craft figures using a lathe and watched displays of traditional dress and dance.

Vicky Shepherd, the charity's information services manager said: "It was interesting for people to learn something about the different cultures from different areas of India and Pakistan."

All week elderly people up and down the country have taken part in activities to celebrate Age Concern's 60th birthday.
