SIMON Grayson has returned to Ewood after his move to Sheffield Wednesday fell through.

The out of favour defender completed his one month loan spell at Hillsborough over the weekend.

But Owls boss Paul Jewell has failed to agree a fee or satisfactory personal terms with the player, even though Grayson was prepared to take a big pay cut.

"They couldn't really come up with the right package for either Blackburn or myself," said Grayson.

"I had agreed to take a substantial pay cut from the wages I'm on at Rovers but they are really stuggling financially at the moment.

"So they obviously don't think it's big enough.

"But I don't think you can blame Blackburn in all this.

"The fee they agreed was considerably lower than what they paid for me which was very reasonable of them.

"But Wednesday must have decided they cannot afford it."

Rovers are believed to have asked for less than £500,000 for a player they paid Aston Villa nearly £1m for just over 12 months ago.
