POLICE are appealing for information about a callous crook who offered security advice to a pensioner and then stole her purse containing £300 cash.
He approached the woman, aged 81, at her home in Cherry Crescent, Rawtenstall, and talked to her about door locks and home safety.
Once inside, he distracted her attention and stole the black purse and the cash.
The thief is described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 6ins tall, slightly built, clean shaven with short, straight, mousy hair.
The incident happened at about 4.20pm on Saturday. Anyone with information or who has been approached in similar circumstances is asked to contact Rossendale CID on 01706 237442, or get in touch with Crimestoppers free and in total confidence on 0800 555111.
