AN 87-year-old Belmont woman died after suffering eight fractured ribs and a ruptured spleen in a mystery fall at her home.
An inquest heard that Amy Hill, of South View was discovered by neighbours who forced their way into her home and found her on the kitchen floor.
A post mortem examination revealed a bruise on the left side of Mrs Hill's forehead, the fractured ribs and ruptured spleen.
The medical cause of death was given as abdominal haemorrhage caused by traumatic rupture of the spleen.
Recording a verdict of accidental death, deputy coroner Carolyn Singleton said it was likely Mrs Hill had fallen against a hard object.
