SOME time ago I mentioned the excellent work done by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside.

The trust sent me a copy of a delightful book which you will find more than useful.

The Wildlife Trust's Nature Reserves Guide, published by the trust at only £6.99, has a foreword by David Bellamy, who has been a long-time friend of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

The book lists the nature reserves run by the trusts throughout Britain.

In our area there is Mere Sands Wood, near Southport; Warton Crag, near Carnforth; Crosshill Quarry, near Clitheroe; Foxhill Bank, Oswaldtwistle, and Cuerden Valley Park, near Leyland.

The latter has good access for the disabled and is the headquarters of the Lancashire Trust.

I once again recommend a visit to Cuerden Park Wildlife Centre, Shady Lane, Bamber Bridge, Preston.

This is the place to buy your copy of the Nature Reserves Guide.

While you have your wallet out, why not join the trust?

Look out for next week's Nature Watch.

There will be a competition and the prize will be a copy of the Nature Reserve Guide.
