BURY residents are proving good sports by helping to make Manchester's staging of the Commonwealth Games a success.
Several people from across the borough have signed up as volunteers, including Brian Cooke from Bury, to help next year's sporting spectacular run smoothly.
The Commonwealth Games Volunteer Programme was launched last week, and more than 400 people showed an interest with200 people signed up on the spot.
Organisers need to recruit 15,000 volunteers to register and become the face of the 2002 Games.
