LEAGUE records fell at Sandy Lane on Saturday as Darwen's scorching form saw them defeat Leyland Motors by a record 192 runs.
Motors won the toss and asked Darwen to bat. Despite an early wicket the Darwen innings was soon on fire as Gary Jackson and Keith Semple added 104 before Jackson fell to Makinson for 39.
Semple went on to make 79 including 13 fours in a sparkling innings as he continues in his best form.
The Darwen batsmen continued to pile on the runs with telling contributions from Gareth Cordingley, Mark Bennett and Michael Horsfield to finish on 242-7 from the allotted 60 overs.
The Motors innings soon hit the rocks with Semple taking three early wickets for six runs in his opening three overs.
Howarth and John seemed to steady the ship taking the score to 35 when the introduction of the Cordingley brothers to the attack appeared to mesmerise the batsmen.
From 35-3 in the 14th over Motors slumped to 50 all out in just the 25 overs. Gareth took two wickets for just 10 runs in six overs whilst younger brother Neil took 5-4 in a devastating six over spell of accurate penetrating bowling to set up this record win.
Darwen 2nd moved up to second in the league thanks to Andrew Cook taking the final Motors wicket in the penultimate over, earlier Simon Painter had set up the win with a stunning 95.
