A DERELICT single-storey warehouse at the junction of Spinning Way and King Street in Leigh is to be transformed into a bar and nightclub under plans agreed by councillors.
Wigan development control committee ignored planning department advice and approved the scheme which involves the construction of a two-storey extension.
Local councillor and Leigh Town Centre Management Group chairman Brian Jarvis welcomed the scheme to transform an eysore.
Coun Jarvis said: "It's going to brighten the old supermarket site which has long been derelict and it could bring 50 or 60 jobs. It will provide an important boost to a prominent part of the town centre.
