ANOTHER special steam train will run from Lancashire to the scenic Settle-Carlisle line, due to overwhelming demand for seats on the previous train.

Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line vice-president Pete Shaw said: "All the seats on our first May steam special to mark 125 years of the Settle-Carlisle line were booked up in just three weeks, and we had so many people on a waiting list that we have decided to run another train."

The second train will run on Saturday August 11, the date in 1968 when the last main-line stream train on the route was operated by British Railways.

It will begin at Manchester Victoria, and stops at Leyland, Blackburn, Clitheroe, and Settle for the journey to Carlisle.

Fares from Manchester, Leyland and Blackburn will be £52.50, including commemorative pack containing a booklet and video about the end of steam in 1968, or £47.50 without the pack. Fares from Clitheroe or Settle will be £47.50 or £42.50 without. There will be a £5 reduction for children.
