Stock Cars: Reigning World F1 champion John Lund, locks horns with his two biggest rivals in the CPL Industries Homefire British Drivers Championship at Coventry on Saturday night.

The Rimington farmer starts as joint favourite with Silsden's Frankie Wainman Junior and Andy Smith, from Rochdale.

Smith will line up as defending champion at Coventry's International Motor Speedway, but Lund will be looking to take his first title of the season -- and the £1,000 winner's jackpot.

Admission is £12 for adults, £6 for children. Gates open at 6pm, first race 7pm. Coventry stadium is situated on the A28 Rugby Road, near Brandon.

Tour event is still going ahead RALLYING: The organisers of this year's Philips Tour of Mull 2001 is still scheduled to run on October 12-14, despite concerns over foot and mouth.

The 2300 Club of Blackburn has advised anyone wanting to compete to get their entry in early.

"We do envisage the event will run and we expect to get a larger than normal response to entries," said a club spokesman.

"Clearly, the current epidemic gives us cause for concern, but we are progressing with all the plans and will be issuing regulations in line with the normal timetable for the event.

"The club is in regular contact with all the relevant authorities and will give regular updates through the rally website." Roskirk race RALLYING: Blackpool and South Shore Motor Club are staging the 'Roskirk Revisited' at the Three Sisters circuit near Wigan, on July 15.

A round of the ANWCC stage and novice championships, the event will comprise 24 stages on asphalt for £125 (£110 before June 30). Trials cancelled TRIALS: Foot and mouth has forced the cancellation of the Scott Trial for the first time in more than half a century.

The Yorkshire Centre Board decided to cancel the event, scheduled for October, in light of the new outbreaks in Settle and Malham. The organisers are now planning a commemorative fund-raising evening on the night of the Scott Trial, with all proceeds going to charity.

An extraordinary general meeting of the West Yorkshire Group and Yorkshire Centre Board saw members vote to allow motorcycle sport to resume, but only under strict ACU guidelines.

Two events now running as a result of the ban being lifted are the Finningley motocross on June 10 and a Yorkshire Junior Grass Track meeting, at present undated.
