"ANY chance you can do one more more column?"

After thinking I'd done my bit, along came Steve with helpful suggestions like "Why not write about the Final?" (Initial thought -- because I don't want to).

Now Steve has already waxed lyrical that this was a "proper cup final -- played hard but just about fair."

Fortunately, he didn't mention that grown men had been reduced to tears in the cruellest possible fashion with Whitehall winning the penalty lottery.

However, as Steve's own match ratings indicated, my lads couldn't have given any more in their quest to deliver the trophy that would have capped an eventful season. Congratulations to Whitehall who completed the double, although I'm sure they would admit we gave them one helluva fight.

Still, Cup Finals are all about winning and we will have to learn from this experience.

After spending a week in hiding, I have just about come to terms with defeat and begun plans for next season's promotion push. Firstly, and most importantly, will be our end of season pilgrimage to Blackpool and then on to organise pre-season training to run off the effects of the trip. With one new signing already in place and a couple more to follow next season can't start quickly enough.

Thanks for reading and that's definitely all for this season (unless Steve wants to do a "Tales from a Blackpool Nightclub" feature).
