NEW name, same result.

That was certainly the case with newly named Accoutre Football Club who have changed their name from Blackburn Boys.

Accoutre proved to be the team of the Junior Football Festival held at Ewood Park for the third year running over two days.

And with a record breaking 128 teams taking part that is some going!

While the new name may take some time to get used to, it was business as usual as Accoutre dominating proceedings on Saturday, winning three of the four events.

In the under sevens, Accoutre FC and Brincal Juniors qualified from their respective groups of eight.

And there was no separating them in the final and it took a golden goal to win Accoutre their first silverware of the afternoon.

The second piece followed in the dame vain when they met Warley Rangers in the final of the under eights event. Again it was 0-0 after normal time and again Accoutre won via another dramatic golden goal.

While the under sevens and under eights attracted 16 teams, the under nines, 10s, 11s and 12s all included 24 teams.

FC Accoutre made the final of the under nines but this time lost, going down 1-0 against Dynamo Burscough.

But they were soon back to their winning ways, beating Lammack 1-0 in the final of the under 10s.

The event attracted teams from across the North West and on Sunday the final of the under 11s event saw Workington beat Woolton Youth from Manchester 1-0.

Blackburn Eagles booked their place in the final of the under 12s event with a 1-0 win against Islington Boys. Pendle Youth made it at the expense of Calthwaite.

And after a scoreless normal and golden goal period, Eagles held their nerve to win in a penalty shoot-out.
