ROSS Walker successfully defended his British title and added another to the collection for good measure.

The Blackburn Go-Ped ace retained his Modified Big Foot title with a maximum 100 point score -- and then went and lifted the thrilling Big Air competition as well.

The championships, held in Blackburn for the second time, was again staged at the town centre's indoor go-kart centre.

While the numbers were down on the last championships, held in November 1999, Walker was in unbeatable form -- topping the performance that saw him win his first title.

Walker won all three qualifying rounds then breezed to victory in the final.

However, Walker proved there was more than just speed to his game as he opened up a box of tricks to win the Big Air event with a thrilling display of jumps.

The crowd pleasing Big Air competition gives riders the chance to show of their skills over a serious of ramps and jumps.

And Walker did not disappoint.

With a strong squad of riders from Bury failing to turn up, it was left to Blackburn to clean up the honours.

Walkers Livesey Service Station work-mate Andrew Austin was also in unbeatable form to lift the Standard Stock Big Foot event, winning all four of his races.

Austin, who also took 100 points, finished 55 points ahead of his closest rival with Jamie Bray of Blackburn finishing third with 39 points.

Guy Harris took third place with a score of 39 points.

It was a lot closer in the Standard Stock Sport with just three points seperating eventual winner Kieran Holdsworth, who finished on 80 points, and his nearest rival.

In the Modfield Sport, Jex of Line One clinched the title with a near perfect performance to finish on 90 points.

The next British championships are expected to be held in London next year and Walker and Austin look set to travel South to defend their titles.
