YOUNG Shaun Dunne held his nerve to hit the winning runs to put Accrington 'A' in the semi final of the Harry Wood Cup.

The tail-ender smashed a shot through the covers as he cooly shook of the close attention of Haslingden's fielders to win a keenly contested tie.

Veteran Alvin Burrows was the main stay of the Accrington innings, batting intelligently to finish unbeaten on 31.

Set a target of 92 by Haslingden, Accrington started cautiously but opener Nigel Stockley appeared to get his eye in with three fine boundary drives in the fourth over -- only to be caught behind by Chris Chaplow off John Mead for 16.

Burrows and Zed Hussain boosted the run-rate with Hussain hitting Brian Till all over the place in the 14th over scoring 18 runs.

Injury-hit Craig Sudworth was pitched into action in the 16th over and spun Haslingden back into the match, claiming three wickets in two overs to put Accrington under pressure for the first time in the match.

Dunne joined Burrows in the 22nd over and bided his time to hit the winning runs.

Earlier, Simon Banfield and John Mead put together an opening partnership of 63 before Haslingden slumped from 70-1 to 92 all out.

Haslingden then lost Chris Chaplow and Paul Chaplow cheaply in consecutive overs before Phil Carter got the vital breakthrough as Banfield was stumped by Burrows for 27.
