AGRICULTURE expert and UK Independence Party advisor Richard North spoke about the foot and mouth crisis in Morecambe last week.
Along with local candidates Dr John Whittaker (Lancaster and Wyre) and Cllr Gregg Beaman (Morecambe and Lunesdale) explained the 'inside story' on the outbreak.
Dr North said: "The key issue is that under European laws we are unable to prohibit the import of potentially defective material."
Meanwhile, Cllr Beaman says he is optimistic about his party's chances next Thursday.
"We can cause the major parties a major headache," he said:
"We know that we have the backing of 52 per cent of the British people, that will be our strength."
