OSCAR Wilde's farce is given a new slant by this production, which includes the tremendously popular duo 'Lip Service.'
They have been joined by the Library Theatre's versatile troupe of actors, who play a hilariously confusing, mixed gender of roles to wildly sacrilegious comic effect.
Never have I laughed so much in the theatre; nothing is as you expect.
Subtitled 'a trivial comedy for serious people,' how anyone could be serious for more than a few minutes is beyond me.
The speed of delivery, the gags and on stage business ensures that nothing dragged the pace.
Central to the production is the inventive, witty and fascinating stage set. Designed by Richard Foxton, the award winning designer of the Octagon's Neville's Island, the set and props are an integral part of the comedy.
The little touches and details add to the fun, even the programme is in the shape of the famous 'handbag.'
On until June 9, the play then tours the country, returning to Blackpool Grand in mid November. I strongly recommend it, especially if you are in need of laughter, life's best medicine for the ills and afflictions of modern life.
Last show of the season at the Library.
