STONYHURST College recently played host to a party of Russian pupils and teacher from the St Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox School in Moscow.

The school was specifically founded to bring up children in the spirit of Christian ethics in post communist Russia and this trip was promoted by the Partners in Hope charity which supports the renewal of the orthodox church in Russia,

Twelve pupils and two teachers from St Alexander's stayed with host pupils from the college and Stonyhurst's preparatory school St Mary's Hall.

During the 10-day stay the Russians attended classes with their hosts, visited tourist attractions and Stonyhurst's mass for Ascension Day. The pupils were delighted by the Ribble Valley countryside and the hospitality of their local hosts.

This trip follows on from those by Wah Yan College Hong Kong, and Canisius College Berlin.
