ON Saturday Sutton's 1st XI visited Ainsdale CC hoping for a victory. Ainsdale won the toss and decided to bat, a decision that looked to be a good one as Ainsdale reached 64-1 after 20 overs.

Sutton's Indian professional Swaggat Ray, then spun his magic taking 5-31 as Ainsdale collapsed and managed to declare on 137-9 from 50 overs.

Sutton however had one of their worst batting displays of recent seasons and were dismissed for a poor 68.

Sutton's Second XI fared little better at home. Batting first Sutton made 153 all out the highlight being 62 from Darren Hockenhull.

Ainsdale though found this to be an easy target, winning by eight wickets.

On Sunday the First XI played Mossley Hill in a cup knockout game. Sutton's batting improved dramatically as they reached 203-4 from their 45 overs.

Sean Anders 55 no, Luke Tunstall 35, Stuart Toole 26. Mossley Hill were then bowled out for 70 with S Ray 4-9, Ste Wearden 3-29 and Gary Greener 2-6 the main wicket takers.

The Third XI had an excellent victory over Earlestown. Batting first Sutton were 35-5 before juniors Danny Appleton with 23, Andy Hughes 21 and Les Yates 15 no, steered them to 127 all out.

Sutton then dismissed Earlestown for 77 with skipper Karl Gavin with four wickets for one run being the pick of the bowlers.
