ARROWS aces from across the area are under starters orders for the opening rounds of the prestigious St Helens Star Open Individual Darts Championship at Chapel End Labour Club, Billinge.

With a top prize of £500 up for grabs there is sure to be some red-hot action at the footer as the region's top marksmen set their sights on the crown.

Generous sponsorship from Thwaites, John Smiths and Tetley's, who have put in £250 apiece, has given the prize pot a terrific boost.

In addition JBR Plastics of Rainford have put up £50 for the least dart finish, Milton Jewellers have contributed £50 for the highest check-out and Garswood Trophies will provide the 180 trophy.
