THE ever-popular Houghton Weavers return to the Theatre Royal on Saturday, June 2 with their own special mix of folk music and mirth which has kept them at the forefront of the entertainment scene for 25 years.

The show starts at 7.30pm.

The Citadel will play host to Justin Adams and the wayward Sheikhs on Saturday, June 2, from 8pm.

And on Wednesday, June 6 there is the chance to enjoy 'Originality' at the Waterloo Street venue. This is a collection of new poems and new writings by local writers.

Friday, June 8 sees Linda Smith Live -- a brand new stand-up comedy show -- on stage at The Citadel from 8pm.

The Poet and the Painter, yours truly and Carol Anne Eaves, are currently staging their latest exhibition, 'Reflections' at the Silhouette Dance Club, Boundary Road. Further details from 01744 20136/01744 26338.

The Forum at St Helens College is the venue for 'A Guard, Two Cats and a Mouse, All Whistling too Loudly', an art and design exhibition by students with learning difficulties and disabilities. This runs until Thursday, June 7.

Next Willowbrook Hospice Roadshow, featuring Star competitions finalists, will be at Haydock Conservative Club, Church Road on Friday, June 8 from 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Campaign Office on 01744 453798.

St Helens Hospital League of Friends are holding a Garden Party in the hospital grounds on Saturday, June 2, starting at 2pm. It will be opened by Sister D. Luckett.

A charity Shop, selling bric-a-brac, is being held in aid of the Sea Cadets at the former Confetti and Lace Shop, Hall Street, St Helens until Friday, June 3.

Members of the South Lancs Federation of Townswomens Guilds will enjoy an afternoon of bowling on Wednesday, June 6 at the Carr Mill Hotel, from noon to 4pm. Tickets £1.

St Helens and District Hard of Hearing Club meet on Monday, June 4 for a 'Duck Drive' at the Deaf Centre, Dentons Green Lane from 1.30 to 3pm.

David Robertson of Rossendale will give a demonstration of flower arranging at a meeting of St Helens Flower Club on Tuesday, June 5 at The Centre for the Deaf, Dentons Green Lane starting at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, admission is £2.50, which includes tea and biscuits.

St Helens Writers Clunb will hold an EGM on Wednesday, June 6 followed by a general knowledge quiz. This is at the Central Library, Victoria Square from 7 to 9pm.
