A NUMBER of nightspots in St Helens 'ran dry' for a time last Friday (May 25).
Among those premises affected were Yates Wine Lodge, Cineworld, Chicago Rock Cafe and The Citadel in Waterloo Street, who had to cancel a function scheduled for that evening.
The drama started on the Friday morning when an eight inch mains burst on Bridge Street, resulted in a temporary repair being carried out.
Unfortunately the same pipe burst again and the people concerned were told the water would not be back on until 8.45pm.
A spokesperson for United Utilities, told The Star: "We apologise for any inconvenience people encountered but after the second incident our main priority was to sort the problem out as soon as possible."
