BIG-hearted customers at The Bottle and Glass have helped to boost the funds of leading charity, Christie's against Cancer.
The Rainford hostelry was one of 14 Chef & Brewer pubs in the area which took part in a special 'Put on a Pound' appeal in which customers were asked to add a £1 donation to their food bill.
A grand total of £3,500 was raised and this was handed over to the charity recently at a presentation at The Swan Tavern, Winwick.
Manchester's world-famous Christie Hospital, the largest single site cancer treatment and research centre in Western Europe, launched the Christie's against Cancer appeal four years ago with the aim of raising £25 million by its centenary year in 2001.
Paul Bailey, project manager for Christie's, said: "This donation gives us a tremendous boost and will help us to complete the final lap of the appeal and reach our goal."
