WE all do it. Moan about politicians, that is.

Whether at local or national level, it seems our representatives just can't win. But next time something gets your back up, stop to think.

Who put the party into power on which you are about to vent your dissatisfied rage or, hope above all hopes, pat your representative on the back?

If you voted for or against whoever's decision spurred you in to action, then that's fair enough. But if you are a member of the "It won't make any difference how I vote" band, then perhaps good advice would be to keep mum.

So don't forget to make use of what could prove to be your vital vote on Thursday, June 7. Double tragedy WE never know what life holds in store.

Our front-page story concerning the tragic death of teenager Becky Grant is so sad. That a pretty young girl, her sweetheart and their pal should lose their lives in a split-second accident on one of the nation's most scenic routes somehow seems far from fair.

Our hearts go out to their loved ones and the family of another seriously injured road user, Arthur Roberts, who was badly hurt after taking part in a mercy mission.

We can't help but wonder why these tragedies happened and wonder just why we are at the mercy of fate.

Accidents unfortunately do happen and times like this help us understand the philosophy of those who live life to the full. Think of the farmers SPARE a thought for local farmers who still face the threat of losing their livelihood because of the foot and mouth crisis.

Some paths are safe to tramp but the fear of spreading the infection remains and we would underline the advice to tread carefully and help the farming community.
