A driver of a car died this morning after colliding with a train that was travelling from Poulton to Kirkham at 6.39am.
The car was off the B560 road, Great Plumpton and was on the train track when the Wigan to Blackpool stock train collided with the car.
The driver of the car died as a result of the accident and the driver of the train was the only passenger on the train who was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to be treated for shock.
The police, the Ambulance services and the Fire Services will be on the scene throughout the morning until the car is removed from the track.
