IT started as a joke among colleagues. But fame for Sven Goran Eriksson lookalike Colin Lyne is now truly kicking off.

Colin, a deadringer for the England football manager, will tonight star in a one-off television special called "Stars and Their Doubles".

The show, hosted by Des O'Connor, brings together dozens of people with an uncanny likeness to the rich and famous.

It was filmed last Sunday but goes out on ITV1 at 8.30pm tonight.

Photographer Colin, who works for the BEN's sister paper the Leigh Journal, rubbed shoulders with Del Boy from "Only Fools and Horses" and comedian Ali G.

He also posed for a picture alongside his new-found soccer chums at Manchester United: skipper David Beckham and manager Sir Alex Ferguson -- albeit it the lookalike versions.

But he very nearly did not make the show. A bomb scare at Waterloo Station -- the one closest to the LWT studio -- meant he had to travel to the next tube stop at Kennington.

And Colin, who admits to not being au fait with London, spent a flustered few minutes trying to work out an alternative route.

Fifteen minutes later, he flagged down a taxi and ensured his date with fame was met.

He said: "I was a little worried when the train was told to continue through Waterloo without stopping.

"But when I finally got to the studio, I had a great time filming the show.

"I got to meet Des O'Connor and my all-time favourite girl Emma Forbes.

"Who would have believed things would have taken off for me like this? I'm having the time of my life."

The panel of judges for the show included Ms Forbes, "Nasty" Nigel Lythgoe -- of Popstars fame -- and GMTV's Fiona Phillips. Claire from pop band Steps co-hosted the programme.

Unfortunately Colin was not up for any of the awards on offer but he filmed a short clip which will be inserted into the show.

He tells the audience: "I don't know anything about football" -- which is fast becoming his catchphrase.

The fledgling star has also filmed a promo for Sky Sports' England verses Germany coverage.

The short film, in which Colin flicks a match on a football pitch, lighting up the word, England, will be aired from Sunday on most of Sky Television's channels. IT started as a joke among colleagues. But fame for Sven Goran Eriksson lookalike Colin Lyne is now truly kicking off.
