I HAVE a heart condition and require surgery on both my knees. The benefit to me of the free parking scheme means that I can get out and about.

Many disabled people don't have a choice and must use their cars. They are on limited incomes and if parking had to be paid for it would add to the general hardship caused by a disability.

It is a struggle just to keep my car on the road and I often walk when shouldn't and suffer pain because finances dictate when I can and can't spend on petrol.

It is wise not to judge a book by its cover. I look fine when I get out of my car, but I am still suffering from angina and severe pain, 24 hours a day in both knees. Maybe you will be in my shoes someday! I hope not.
