PROUD parents are invited to go back to their roots to help celebrate the birth of their new off-spring.

Green-fingered families are being offered a unique opportunity to mark the momentus arrival by planting a tree to help launch the creation of a new family forest at Rowley Lake, in Burnley.

Run by the Mid Pennine Arts group in conjunction with the Forest of Burnley, the celebratory event will be a fun day out for all the family, with jugglers, face painters, tree dressing and live music.

And each family that takes part has been promised a specially commissioned hand-made book that contains the name, date and place of birth of their child.

The hand-bound books, which are designed by young artist and illustrator, Esther Chambers, will be presented to parents at a presentation ceremony at the Mid Pennine Gallery, Burnley, in December.

The deadline for families to register is Saturday September 29. Further details and an application form are available from Mid Pennine Arts, in Yorke Street, Burnley, by telephoning 01282 421986.
