A WEDDING is a memorable occasion for every bride, but for Joanne Turner it an extra special event.

That was because Joanne (25) of Clyde Road, Radcliffe, is the Bury Times Newspaper Group's Bride of the Year.

She and Craig Davenport (24) exchanged vows and rings at Christ Church, Ainsworth, on Saturday (Aug 11) in a ceremony conducted by the Rev Nick Grayshon.

The happy couple are pictured shortly after the marriage service.

It was the climax of a tremendous year for Joanne, who discovered she had won the fairytale wedding back in February at the Bury Times Group Spring Bridal Spectacular. She was one of eight finalists chosen by readers and an independent panel of judges in the glittering event at the Bolholt Country Park.

Joanne, who is a full-time mum to the couple's two-year-old daughter, Hannah, won herself a facial from Revival of Walshaw, hair-styling by Studio Renaissance of Bury, wedding photographs by Vicky Leanne Photography, a Cant head-dress and tiara and flowers from Because I Love You of Farnworth. John Francis provided the bridegroom's suit.

"Everything went really well. In fact, the only mishap was when I forgot to wear a garter," laughed Joanne who did wear a white silk halter-neck beaded bodice with a diamante and pearl tiara and a veil decorated with crystals. She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses.

After the ceremony 45 guests enjoyed an afternoon reception at The Moat House, Bolton, followed by an evening reception for 120.

"We'd like to thank everyone for helping to make it such an unforgettable day," said Joanne, who will shortly be setting off for a romantic honeymoon in Wales.
