BURY take on QPR tomorrow at Gigg Lane full of confidence - though a little disappointed by events elsewhere, writes Steve Canavan of the BOLTON EVENING NEWS.

Former skipper Chris Lucketti has decided not to leave Huddersfield to join Cardiff, a decision which hits Bury in the pocket.

The Shakers inserted a substantial sell-on clause when Lucketti left to join Huddersfield two years ago and would have made a tidy sum if Lucketti had decided to join the Welsh club, for a reported £2million fee.

But after travelling to Cardiff for talks the defender has opted to stay at McAlpine.

"After a lot of consideration I decided it wasn't the right move," explained Lucketti, who was reluctant to uproot his family.

It is a blow for chairman Terry Robinson and the club's money-men but it will be softened if Bury do the business on the pitch tomorrow and continue their winning record.

Andy Preece has a full squad at his disposal but he is unlikely to make any changes from the team which started against Tranmere Rovers.

That means Baichung Bhutia continues up front with Jon Newby and young defender Michael Nelson gets another start.

Like Tranmere, QPR - managed by Ian Holloway - were relegated from the First Division last season and it will not be an easy fixture for Preece's side.

"Rangers had a great win against Stoke on Saturday and that will give them confidence," explained Preece. "They are always difficult to beat and they've added a lot of new personnel since coming down and will want to make a quick return."

One man who could figure, though most likely from the substitutes bench, is Greek Premiership player George Siros.

International clearance for the left-sided defender has been received and the manager is thinking of putting Siros straight in the squad to face QPR.

"I'm delighted that George has received his papers," added Preece. "He has been very impressive in training. We were hoping to receive clearance yesterday to play him for the Reserves at Blackpool.

"I'm not sure at this moment whether he will start or not. The performance from the defence last week makes that a very hard decision."
