NEW signing Dino Maamria scored in the 18th minute to give Leigh RMI a great start against Hayes but the visitors equalised for a 1-1 draw in front of a miserable crowd of 546.

Maamria confirmed his pre-season form - he netted his third goal in RMI colours as Leigh wound up their pre-season campaign in the 4-2 defeat of Chorley.

RMI boss Steve Waywell has seen enough of Maarima to sign the former Tunisian Under 21 international who was released by Conference rivals Southport.

Maamria's opener against Chorley was cancelled out when former RMI striker Andy Mason levelled following errors from Iain Swan and Monk.

RMI re-established their advantage when Hallows - a second half replacement for young forward Troy Hayder - stabbed home Monk's left wing cross. David Such evened matters again nine minutes from the end, the 18th goal Leigh have conceded in nine pre-season games, a worrying sign ahead of the big kick-off.

Swan popped up to net the third and Tony Black secured the fourth victory of the summer for the Railwaymen.

Ex-Bolton midfielder Steve Thompson was forced to withdraw from the side with a recurrence of his knee injury.
