CRIME fighters are using the internet to tackle crooks in the Ribble Valley.
Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators throughout the borough are using e-mail to share information with the police in a bid to cut offending.
Ribble Valley Council paid for around 20 volunteers to be supplied with e-mail as part of the E-mailer Watch project.
Co-ordinators receive a weekly bulletin from police regarding crime in their area and offering advice and crime prevention advice .
E-mailer Watch has already been launched in other parts of Eastern Division, which covers Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.
It is the first scheme of its kind in the country and has been supported by Amstrad, which makes the e-mailer machines, which plug into a phone line and act like a normal phone as well as sending and receiving e-mails.
