DARWEN's Mill Stone Hotel reopened at the weekend with a late night surprise for revellers.
The pub on the Circus has been granted a licence to serve drinks until 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.
It had been closed for several weeks as workmen fitted a dance area, installed air conditioning, and redecorated -- although landlady Anne Done has kept its appearance much the same as it was before.
Anne plans to stage live bands every Friday and Saturday, and wants to get a regular group coming down to enjoy the entertainment.
"We've got competition from the Roxy," she said, "but we want a different crowd, ours wont be for people who like dance music.
"We want people who have reached the weekend and want to stay out a bit later and enjoy some live entertainment with a few drinks."
