A HARVEST Appeal with a difference is being held at St Luke's Church, in Brierfield, in the hope of removing land mines in Cambodia.
Money will be raised through a fun 'mark the plot' competition with a guaranteed prize at the end of it.
A plan showing the church's front garden divided in to square plots will be placed inside the church and a special bulb has been planted in one of the squares.
Members of the public will pay £2 to choose the square they think the bulb has been planted in and once the bulb appears next Spring, the winner will receive a prize from Christian Aid.
In his latest church newsletter Rev Ed Saville encouraged people to join in the appeal.
He said: "Not a bad idea is it. We look for something beautiful to help remove all the land mines in Cambodia. Everyone benefits and not only that but the garden looks even better as well.
"Have a go. You know it won't hurt you but it may kill someone if you don't."
