ROSSENDALE continued their impressive start to their UniBond season by taking another three points against Guiseley.

Dale have now won three of their four encounters -- and drawn the other -- on their return to Division One after 12 years absence.

And they should how won this game more convincingly as the Yorkshire side were no match for the visitors.

Despite this the first 30 minutes were something of a non event as Dale's defence kept things tight.

Walsh had a shot just over for Guiseley and this then spurred Dale into action.

Mark Patterson hammered a 20 yard drive which was saved and Pat Lauber had a volley blocked the Guiseley backline.

Cunningham then had a shot cleared off the line and Craig Sargeson slid his effort wide to leave it goalless at the interval.

Sargeson hit the bar minutes after the interval and Lauber should have done better than to fire wide in front of goal.

The winner came on 65 minutes, Cunningham rising to nod down a free kick for Patterson to smash home an unstoppable shot from 25 yards out.

The home side did have a chance to level as Dale sat back but Sargeson should have had the last say although he was denied by the home keeper and Knowles' follow up hit the post.
