YORKSHIREMAN Lee Briscoe says the Clarets have no need to fear their trip to Bradford City.

While the Bantams retain a 100 per cent record in Division One this season since their relegation from the Premiership last term, the Pontefract-born player feels Burnley have every reason to be confident that they can return with some reward from the trip to Valley Parade.

"Away from home we have been great so far," enthused the 25-year-old.

"We have to feel that it is a game we can win.

"When the fixture list came out we knew we had a tough start, but to have won three of our first four games is excellent.

"So really, while there a teams that we have got a lot of respect for, there is no one that we should fear."

The Clarets three-match winning run was brought to an end by Manchester City, though the dismissal of defender Gordon Armstrong on 35 minutes for a handball offence proved a key moment it what had been shaping up to be a tight encounter.

And it was a night to remember for Briscoe as he bagged his first goal in a Clarets shirt.

"It was a three-yard screamer, but if you keep getting in the box then those chances will come," said Briscoe.

"It was nice to get off the mark, it was just a shame about the result really.

"At 2-2 it was game on but it really needed to have stayed 11 against 11.

"We had a hot and tiring trip to Millwall at the weekend, we were slow out of the blocks and then when we were down to ten we tired at the end.

"All you can do with ten men is have the work ethic and chase. We tired and they opened us up a little, but I'm glad they didn't make it five or six because that would have been unjust given the effort we put in."

The last two games have also been testing for Briscoe in terms of positional play.

Injuries forced him into three different roles in the 2-0 success at the New Den on Saturday, and Armstrong's sending off against City saw Briscoe again the man to facilitate manager Stan ternent's need to make changes.

"I think I have played left midfield, centre midfield, left back and even centre half over the last two games, but it doesn't do any harm to have more than one string to your bow," said Briscoe.

"I am just happy to play for the side whatever position I am asked to play."
