ISUPPORT Mr A Spencer (Letters, September 4) concerning the abuse of public transport users. For a company to operate buses only until 6pm for six days a week and to advertise 'weekly returns' is another stage in the demise of the shortage of 'backsides-on-seats' country, which the Government has tried to instigate with fuel subsidies, tax incentives and many other initiatives for independent bus operators.

Thankfully, the Yorkshire-based company which has taken over services in East Lancashire is now being seen to give both a better and cheaper service.

H ROBINSON (Mr), Juniper Court, Woodside Road, Accrington.
