SOMETIMES, you just have to seize the moment. Which is exactly what 13,000 of us did at ten to five on Saturday.

"We are top of the league!" chanted the Claret and Blue faithful. And well they they might.

After all, it's not a song which has been aired at Turf Moor too frequently in recent times. And who knows how long it will last?

But that's not the only thing Burnley supporters can get excited about at the moment. The goals for column for example, shows the Clarets to be the most prolific scorers in all four English divisions.

And pleasingly the goals are coming from everywhere. Last season, strikes from midfield were few and far between. Yet now it is almost as if they are queuing up to score.

Glen Little, Paul Cook, Alan Moore and Paul Weller have all weighed in with vital goals so far.

This is partly down to the formation deployed recently against both Roterham and Bradford. A 4-5-1 dovetails neatly into a 4-3-3 when the Clarets are pressing forward.

This encourages midfielders to get into the box. And so far the results have been explosive.

Something else Saturday's victory underlined was the strength of the squad Ternent has assembled.

The win against Rotherham was achieved without the services of the likes of Briscoe, Branch, Thomas, McGregor, Papadopolous and Cox.

Not to mention the likes of Mullin and Johnrose who were not even able to make the bench. And as for Maylett and Shandran. . .

Not that any of the above seems to have caught the attention of the national media. All the talk at the moment is of calamitous Coventry and mid-table Manchester.

(Although if you looked and listened hard enough you were able to pick out a few patronising comments about "little" Grimsby here and there).

The best we got was the odd paragraph. And only then because of the novelty value of Moore Junior notching against his dad's club.

Still, it's probably for the best. Less media scrutiny means less pressure on all concerned.

Looking ahead, the next couple of weeks offer some tough challenges. Walsall will be their usual resilient, tough to break down selves when Saturday comes.

And we must visit both Birmingham and Norwich who have enjoyed similar good starts to their seasons.

Still, it's like I said, sometimes you just have to seize the moment. All together now, "We are top of the league!"
