MORECAMBE hope to continue their good start to the season and, in particular, their improved away form, into this weekend's clash with a Justin Jackson inspired Doncaster Rovers.

Jim Harvey's side travel to South Yorkshire to take on one of the favourites for the Conference title.

Jackson, who again finds himself dropping out of the football league ranks, joined from Rushden and Diamonds just a few week for a fee in excess of £100,000.

Injuries which hit new signings Andy Gouck, Lee Colkin and Chris Lightfoot in the game against Hereford are not thought to be serious enough to put them out of action this weekend.

Morecambe currently hold fifth place in the conference. Leaders are Boston United, with Dagenham and Redbridge and surprise package, newly promoted Margate just behind. As predicted, the table at the moment is extremely tight.

Morecambe 2 Hereford 2

JOHN Norman's second spell at Christie Park has never been as prolific as his first, but, on Saturday, he achieved a very special goalscoring landmark.

Norman, the conference's leading scorer before an ill fated move to Hednesford, took 78 minutes of this clash to fire home Morecambe goal number 100.

It looked set to give the Shrimps a victory in a competitive match which saw injuries to three of Morecambe's recent signings. The first half was evenly matched, though the second half saw Hereford's Rob Elmes turn in a corner from Gavin Williams. Youngster Garry Thompson put the Shrimps back on level terms after a spell of sustained pressure, and from there on in Morecambe had the momentum until Norman's late intervention.

However, the game still had a bit of life left and Hereford's Paul Parry put them on level terms within the last 10 minutes.

Scarborough 0 Morecambe 2

MORECAMBE showed what they can achieve on the road, cruising to victory at Scarborough on Tuesday night. Scarborough, who are going through their annual financial crisis at the moment, were enjoying the better of the play before Morecambe took the lead through John Norman just before the half hour. Morecambe kept up the pressure in the second half, and the three points were safe from the moment when Robbie Talbot doubled the advantage 10 minutes into the second half. The little striker added to his growing reputation when he directed Thompson's flick past keeper Andy Woods.
