A SUPPORT programme for people diagnosed with cancer has won national recognition.
The ten-week rehabilitation programme was set up by Rossendale Hospice more than 18 months ago.
It was picked as second in the National Council for Hospice and Specialist Palliative Care Services user involvement awards and staff and patients were invited to London to collect their award.
Director of nursing Marie Lupton said: "This support programme has proved very beneficial to many people who would never have dreamed of attending a hospice."
One of the patients on the programme said: "The programme provides relief from stress, anxiety and isolation felt after diagnosis. It gives opportunities to discuss your feelings with other cancer patients and how they cope with life.
"This is an excellent relief society in a relaxed atmosphere
