VULNERABLE victims were confronted in their homes by a bizarre burglar a court heard.

John Holmes was always found sitting in his victims' front rooms.

First, an elderly woman and her wheelchair-bound husband came face to face with Holmes on their sofa.

Five days later a woman pensioner walked into her living room to found Holmes sitting in a chair.

Holmes, 26, of Calderdale guest house, Holme Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to two burglaries.

He was committed in custody for sentence at crown court by Blackpool magistrates to a date to be fixed.

Chrissie Hunt, prosecuting, said Holmes first broke into a house on Bela Grove, Blackpool.

The occupants, an elderly woman and her wheelchair-bound husband, found Holmes sat in their front room.

He then fled and a purse containing £140 of the couple's savings was discovered missing.

Five days later a woman pensioner went into the living room of her home on Gloucester Avenue, Blackpool, to find Holmes sitting there.

She fled to a neighbour to contact police. Forensic evidence proved Holmes had been in both properties.

Martin Hillson, defending, did not ask for bail for his client.
